Althelia Ecosphere Impact Report 2017 online

Althelia Ecosphere, the manager of the Althelia Climate Fund, published it’s Impact Report 2017. The report describes the results of the projects in which the fund has invested since it was established in 2013. About the Tambopata-Bahuaja project, of which the members of the REDD+ Business Initiative purchase CO2 credits and premium products, it says that:

  • 573,835 ha forest is protected, with which 2.1 million tons of CO2 emissions have been avoided to date
  • more than 1 million cocao trees have been planted in the buffer zone
  • 195 farmers have become members of the cocao cooperative, which produces 100% certified organic and Fairtrade       cocoa 227 landtitles are secured for local farmers

The report also states that in 2017 Althelia Ecosphere had fully invested the 100+ million euros that their investors committed 4 years before. It is invested in projects in Latin America, South East Asia and Africa.
