RBI welcomes Shell, Greenchoice and DutchSpirit as new members
International energy company Shell, energy supplier Greenchoice and the small green clothing brand DutchSpirit have joined the REDD + Business Initiative.
Rudi Daelmans (Tarkett), chairman of the REDD + Business Initiative: “We are very content with these new members. The participation of both leading and established market leaders in the energy sector as well as a small green pioneer in the clothing sector shows that everyone can contribute , from global company to small green entrepreneur “.
Shell’s announcement to participate in the REDD + Business Initiative is related to the launch of a new program that enables (business) customers to compensate for the inevitable emissions from their fleet. Marjan van Loon, CEO of Shell Nederland states: “We need every available solution to limit the greenhouse effect to 2 ° C and preferably to 1.5 ° C. Nature plays a crucial role in limiting climate change”.
Greenchoice already has a history in REDD + and has invested in international forest projects in seven different countries for the last 14 years to compensate for the CO2 emissions of customers’ gas consumption. The organization thus makes an important contribution to the fight against climate change and involving customers in nature-based solutions.
DutchSpririt is a producer of sustainable corporate clothing. For each suit sold, the inevitable emissions for making that costume are compensated with forest credits.
